Reece Walsh's five try assists and a try against the Cook Islands strengthened his case to start as Australia prepares for its Rugby League World Cup semi-final against Samoa.
The Brisbane Broncos fullback played in two of Australia's three pool matches, despite competing with James Tedesco for the position before the tournament.
Walsh played through an ankle knock, but said Kevin Walters had not disclosed the starting lineup.
"He actually hasn't. One thing we spoke about being in this environment and this team is nothing is guaranteed," Walsh said.
"We are all here to learn off each other and help each other get to the ultimate goal of winning the World Cup. Whatever Kevvie wants to do we are all going to support him. No one has dropped their lip or had a sour taste."
Australia beat the Cook Islands 66-6 to finish top of Pool A. Latrell Mitchell was omitted from that match, while Bradman Best has featured against Fiji and the Cook Islands.
Walters has indicated Mitchell could come off the bench if required against Samoa, with Best preferred at left centre alongside Kotoni Staggs.
The coach said Mitchell was not a "forgotten man" and explained his preference for Best.
"Bradman carries the ball strongly, he defends well, and he's played consistently well for a long time now. Bradman and Latrell are not exclusive left-sided players. Latrell played fullback and can play all over the field."
Walters is due to name his semi-final team on Tuesday. Mitchell's place in the starting 13 has not been confirmed.
