Brisbane Broncos leader Adam Reynolds is facing a tough battle after suffering yet another hamstring injury during a match against Melbourne.
The captain's future on the field is now uncertain as he awaits scan results.
This setback marks the second year in a row that Reynolds has left Melbourne with an injury, leaving the team and fans feeling disheartened.
Coach Kevin Walter's disappointment was palpable after the Broncos' defeat.
Reynolds felt the hamstring strain early in the game, but attempted to soldier on until halftime.
However, a crucial kick before the break forced him to leave the field at AAMI Park.
The emotional captain admitted to struggling with the injury and couldn't provide a clear assessment of its severity post-match.
"My hamstring tightened up in that first half," Reynolds said.
"I was trying to push through until halftime, but it just got worse.
I saw an opportunity on the short side and went for it, but it didn't feel right."
Now, the Broncos will have to wait anxiously for the scan results to determine Reynolds' immediate playing future.
In the meantime, the team will rally together and draw strength from their history of overcoming adversity in the rugby league arena.
