The $5 million man: NRL club willing to make massive play for Koloamatangi
Amid uncertainty regarding his future, an NRL club is reportedly prepared to present a substantial $5 million offer to Keaon Koloamatangi in an effort to entice him away from the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
Fresh from his international debut for Australia, Koloamatangi ranks among the top forwards available on the market. He has enjoyed a strong year, successfully transitioning from the back-row to the middle of the field as he enters the prime of his career.
With his contract expiring at the end of the 2026 NRL season, reports have surfaced indicating that one club is eager to secure his services through a lucrative contract.
On James Graham's The Bye Round Podcast, The Herald's Michael Chammas disclosed that the Dragons are "willing to pay him close to five million dollars over five years," after missing out on various major signings in recent seasons.
To further attract him away from the Rabbitohs, the Dragons launched an extensive recruitment pitch that included flying him to their club facilities by helicopter.
Koloamatangi has played in all three matches of the 2025 Ashes Series against England and has also garnered interest from the Canberra Raiders and Parramatta Eels.
Meanwhile, the Rabbitohs are working to retain him as they aim to vie for another premiership, though they currently lack the financial capacity to propose a $5 million contract.
