Young Halfback Embraces Jersey Challenge

Why Zane Harrison Feels His Titans Debut Came at the Right Moment

Zane Harrison is determined not to see his guaranteed jersey as an entitlement.

At just 20 years old, the halfback impressed during his debut against a formidable Roosters team, earning high praise from Titans coach Josh Hannay, who declared the No. 7 jersey is now Harrison's responsibility to maintain.

Despite this affirmation, the young prodigy is committed to staying on his toes, believing the jersey must be earned each week.

"I think [Josh] timed it perfectly. He's backed me from the start and let me continue to learn my craft in Q Cup, and that's what I've been doing this year," Harrison shared.

"To finally get an opportunity, I'm really thankful for Josh to back me," he added.

"I'm still thinking there's competition [for the No. 7 jersey among the squad]," Harrison noted.

"There's always competition, so I have to do everything I can to retain that jersey and keep my spot in the team."

"I'll still be putting my best foot forward and trying to string some good games together to put me in good stead," he emphasized.

Harrison described his first NRL experience, going head-to-head with stars like James Tedesco and Daly Cherry-Evans, as nothing short of surreal.
