raiders.com.au are reporting The fast and the curious: Flying teen Xavier had NFL on radar
Raiders speedster Xavier Savage has spilled the beans ahead of this weekend's showdown against the Warriors at Allegiant Stadium about how he had his sights set on a career in the NFL if his NRL ambitions didn't pan out.
Savage, who popped the question to his partner, Taliah Simbolon, in front of the breathtaking Bellagio Hotel and Casino fountains, never thought he would end up in Las Vegas playing rugby league.
But he did toy with the idea of packing his bags and heading to the United States to chase a sporting career.
The Cairns native was known for his lightning speed, clocking an impressive 6.91sec for 60m and 10.85sec for 100m back in 2018.
With his exceptional speed and athleticism, the young flyer had dreams of hitting the gridiron if his NRL aspirations fell through.
The now 22-year-old said he had been looking into the possibility of securing a scholarship at a US college until the Raiders came knocking with an offer of a development contract.
