George Williams has confirmed his commitment to Warrington Wolves for the remainder of the 2025 season, despite interest from the NRL regarding a potential return to Australia.
Williams, who previously played with the Canberra Raiders, expressed uncertainty about his future at Warrington beyond next season, as his contract expires at the end of 2025.
In a post-match interview following Warrington's 24-10 victory over Hull FC, Williams stated, "There has been a lot of talk within the week but there is nothing major to it." He acknowledged that while there is "a little bit of interest [from the NRL]," he feels it's important to consider this opportunity, saying, "I would be stupid not to listen to it - at 30, it's now or never." He reflected on whether a return to Australia is an "itch I want to scratch."
Williams expressed gratitude towards Warrington, noting, "Warrington have been brilliant and I have been respectful to them," and indicated that he is "open-minded" about the possibilities ahead, while acknowledging the complexities of any potential transition.
The future remains uncertain for the former Wigan player, who has a significant decision to make regarding his career after the 2025 season.
