John Strange, the new coach of the NSW women's team, is focusing on the upcoming game one of the State of Origin series rather than using last year's disappointment as motivation.
Despite NSW securing an early advantage in the last series with a remarkable long-range try from Jaime Chapman, they ultimately lost the series to the Maroons, who claimed game two with a last-minute field goal and dominated the decider.
Strange, having replaced Kylie Hilder, has elected not to dwell on that painful loss.
He stated, "No we haven't.
(The) main reason being I wasn't there, so it would be disrespectful for me to talk about last year as a coach.
It's about moving forward." He acknowledges that while many players are returning from last year's campaign, the inclusion of several new team members makes it more relevant to focus on their present and future.
Strange emphasized, "I didn't see a point for me to dredge it up.
Also there's nothing we can do about that.
It's about moving forward."
As they prepare for the match on Thursday, Strange's approach is centered on building a new narrative for the team, aiming to harness their current strengths instead of lingering on past outcomes.
