Melbourne Storm players are rallying for coaching legend Craig Bellamy to continue his tenure, with halfback Jahrome Hughes expressing his belief that Bellamy would find retirement unfulfilling.
Hughes stated, "Craig Bellamy would get easily bored if he decides to retire at the end of the season," indicating his expectation that Bellamy will remain for at least another year.
Reports suggest that Bellamy has the option to extend his coaching contract until 2026, and he is anticipated to announce his decision soon, allowing the club ample time to seek a replacement if necessary.
Previously, on May 10 last year, it was determined that Bellamy would stay on to coach through 2025.
Speculation indicates he will make a similar decision shortly.
Having transformed the Storm into a premier sporting franchise since his arrival in 2003, Bellamy is revered, contributing to his team's consistent successes, including being named Dally M Coach of the Year seven times.
Star player Cameron Munster is expected to make a personal appeal for Bellamy to continue.
Hughes noted, "Usually around this time it's all in the papers with what he's going to do, but there hasn't been much talk about what he's going to do," further highlighting the anticipation surrounding Bellamy's future.
