Mackenzie Wiki's Kiwi Ferns debut will extend a New Zealand jersey legacy across three generations of her family, her father Ruben said.
The Raiders NRLW winger was left out of the original squad but called up after an injury.
Wiki said her strong season included selection in the RLPA dream team, the try of the year and 10 tries.
He said Mackenzie had earned her place through her own ability, although he had encouraged her to represent their family.
"It's a little bit emotional talking about it - watching my baby on Sunday," he admitted.
Wiki said he offers advice on improving her game but does not dictate how she should play.
"This is this is my journey," Wiki said, recalling her words.
Wiki hopes to make the trip to Christchurch, though he is working overtime.
