Fetu Samoa open their 2026 Rugby League World Cup campaign against the Australian Jillaroos on Friday, 16 October, at 8.05pm at Sydney's CommBank Stadium.
Wests Tigers players Christian Pio and Jetaya Faifua have earned places in Samoa's squad after the club's NRLW team reached the finals for the first time.
Pio returns to the national side after featuring in Samoa's 2024 Pacific Championships squad. She has played 34 times for the Tigers since their inaugural NRLW season in 2023.
This season, Pio appeared in all 12 Tigers matches, averaging 70 run metres and making 176 tackles while missing 10.
Faifua is back in the squad after playing twice for Samoa against Australia and New Zealand in last year's Pacific Championships.
The half has five Samoa appearances and 31 NRLW games across three clubs. The World Cup will be her first on that stage.
Tigers head coach Craig Sandercock welcomed the selections.
"I'm really happy to see the players recognised. It's a real privilege to play for your country," Sandercock said.
"Congratulations to both players, and full credit to them for training hard and playing well towards the back end of the season, earning their jersey."
