Wayne Bennett eyeing Hastings in Rabbitohs player swap

Incoming South Sydney Rabbitohs head honcho Wayne Bennett is rumored to be eyeing off Jackson Hastings in a potential player swap deal with the Newcastle Knights.

Hastings, reportedly raking in about $800,000 a year at the Knights, has fallen out of favor with coach Adam O'Brien and his crew.

The halfback found himself on the sidelines more than once during the 2024 NRL season, eventually being relegated to the bench.

This disappointing turn of events followed his stint on the sidelines due to injury during the Knights' unexpected charge to the semi-finals in 2023, only to be knocked out in the crucial match upon his return.

Despite the Knights making it to the finals again this year with Hastings consigned to reserve grade, it seems clear that his days at the club are numbered.

If he can land himself a new gig, it looks like he'll be trading his red and blue jersey for some new threads elsewhere.
