Benaiah Ioelu is expected to step into the Sydney Roosters side for Sunday's NRL grand final against the Knights.
The Samoan international has played five NRL games this season, and coach Trent Robinson is expected to call on him after Connor Watson was ruled out.
The Roosters announced on Friday that Watson had not recovered from concussion and would miss the match.
It would have been Watson's farewell appearance for the club before his move to St George Illawarra.
Watson saw a specialist on Thursday morning and was scheduled for further examinations that night, hoping to receive clearance.
