Cody Walker acknowledged his significant error against the Panthers, stating he "let the team down massively" following South Sydney's defeat to Penrith.
In a moment of frustration, Walker was sent to the sin bin after striking Jack Cogger, which also resulted in a disallowed try for Dayne Jennings.
This left the Rabbitohs at a disadvantage as Liam Henry capitalized on Walker's absence to score for Penrith. Although South Sydney managed to narrow the score to 12-10 by halftime, their energy diminished significantly in the second half due to the extra defensive effort.
During the post-game press conference on Friday, Walker took full responsibility for his actions and mentioned that he reached out to Cogger to apologize after the match.
"It just wasn't good enough," he reflected.
"As a senior player, I've just got to be better in those moments and not let my aggression get the better of me. I let my teammates down, and I'm really sorry about that."
