Cody Walker finds himself in hot water following a "selfish" and "completely unnecessary" moment during Friday night's match against the Penrith Panthers.
The Rabbitohs appeared to be making a comeback after Dylan Edwards set the tone for the competition favorites with an impressive solo try early on.
However, Walker's actions led to rookie Dayne Jennings having his first NRL try disallowed, as Walker kicked Penrith's Jack Cogger after a tackle.
Chris Butler, reviewing the incident in the Bunker, labeled Walker's move as "deliberate" and "completely unnecessary."
Referee Adam Gee didn't mince words either, informing Walker, "you're the captain" and "you've just cost them a try" before sending him to the sin bin.
This moment proved to be a crucial turning point in the match, allowing the Panthers to quickly capitalize as Liam Henry scored shortly after.
NRL great Cooper Cronk aptly described the incident as a "selfish" play on Walker's part.
