The NRL has announced that Teddy Swims will be the headline performer for their grand final, marking a controversy-free choice. This follows criticism of the AFL for selecting rapper Snoop Dogg as their entertainment.

In response to the announcement, ARL Commission chair Peter V'landys took a shot at the AFL, remarking on what he perceived as their subpar selection. He referred to it as a "dog act," questioning the suitability of Snoop Dogg's performance.

"What's he called, labrador or poodle," V'landys quipped during an appearance on Today with the Nine Network. "I'm not sure - all I know is that it is a dog act, so we had to get better than that. We actually got a vocalist." He continued, emphasizing, "None of this doof, doof stuff. This bloke can actually sing."

The controversy surrounding the AFL has intensified, especially following the ban on Adelaide's Izak Rankine for making a homophobic comment. Critics have pointed out the hypocrisy in the AFL's decision to feature Snoop Dogg, given his history of using misogynistic and offensive lyrics in his music.

This situation has prompted AFL chief executive Andrew Dillon to defend the choice of Snoop Dogg as the headline act for their grand final day.
