Chris Woodbridge, one of the most promising talents in the Queensland Cup, is gaining attention from several NRL teams and is expected to secure a contract for 2027.
The standout back, who excels in both the fullback and winger positions, has impressed with his highlight reel while playing for the Western Clydsdales this season.
Despite the Toowoomba club lacking a direct connection to the NRL and having won only five games, Woodbridge's skills have not gone unnoticed, as they currently sit next to last in the standings, just ahead of the PNG Hunters.
In his inaugural season at this level, he has played all 20 matches, scoring 16 tries and assisting with another 21, resulting in an impressive total of 37 direct try involvements for a team scoring just over 20 points per game.
Woodbridge has recorded 12 line breaks, 48 tackle busts, and has handled the ball 1,089 times, averaging 73 meters per game while managing the club's kicking duties from fullback, where he has only one game with under 100 meters kicked.
His running game has also shone, with five games exceeding 100 meters, including a standout 224 meters in Round 9 against the Tweed Seagulls.
Notably, Woodbridge made headlines with five try assists against the Ipswich Jets in Round 11 and scored a hat-trick against the Tweed Seagulls, marking two of his top performances this year.
Previously overlooked, he reportedly has four NRL club offers on the table, as stated in a News Corp article.
While all four are believed to be train and trial agreements, they could evolve into more substantial contracts once the new season begins.
At this point, the South Sydney Rabbitohs and Gold Coast Titans are interested, with the remaining two clubs yet to be named.
What position will ultimately suit Woodbridge best-either at the back or in the number six jersey-remains uncertain, but a new club may solidify their plans during the upcoming pre-season training period he is likely to join.
