Cronulla Sharks captain Tiana Penitani and Cowboys utility China Polata have been selected to represent Tonga Women's squad in the upcoming Pacific Championships, according to a report on weststigers.com.au.

Both players had impressive seasons with their respective clubs and also participated in the State of Origin series this year.

Their inclusion in the squad will provide valuable experience to the team, which will be coached by Kelvin Wright.

Joining Penitani and Polata in the Tonga Women's squad are Eels winger Cassey Tohi-Hiku and Titans rookie Dannii Perese.

Tohi-Hiku recently showcased her skills for the Australian Prime Minister's XIII team in their victory in Papua New Guinea.

Perese, on the other hand, featured in the NRLW grand final loss to the Knights, adding depth and talent to the Tongan side.

Tonga Women's team is set to compete in Week 2 of the Pacific Championships and will face New Zealand at Eden Park later this month.

This will be a significant challenge for the Tongan squad, and the experience and skills of Penitani, Polata, Tohi-Hiku, and Perese will be crucial in their pursuit of success in the tournament.
