A Pacific bid for the NRL's 20th club could include home games in Hawaii, Tonga prop Demitric Vaimauga said.
"That's the first I've heard of it, but playing in Hawaii sounds good to me," he said.
He added, "Tax free? Sign me up."
Tonga face Samoa at CommBank Stadium on Sunday night.
Vaimauga said, "It's a game that's probably going to be the biggest of the World Cup for both us and Samoa."
He added, "Bigger than a final? For me personally it is."
Tonga are seeking redemption after Samoa's 34-6 win in last year's Pacific Championships.
Both teams are unbeaten after two matches and can still reach the semi-finals under the tournament's complicated format.
Tongan enforcer Tyson Frizell described the clash as a Pasifika-style State of Origin showdown and said it mattered greatly to supporters.
