Titans tackle fitness woes: Fifita waits, Verrills may play

The Gold Coast Titans have provided an update on second-rower David Fifita, who has not yet been cleared for a return to play.

The player, a former Queensland State of Origin star, has been sidelined for several weeks after being dropped to the Queensland Cup by coach Des Hasler amid pressure.

Currently, he is in the final stages of recovering from an ankle injury.

Reports indicate that Fifita is engaged in discussions about possibly leaving the club but continues to work at Robina with hopes of returning to the team soon.

The Titans reported that he has been increasing his training loads following ankle surgery, with the intention of being available for selection within the next fortnight.

However, it remains unclear whether this will enable him to return to first-grade play.
