Gold Coast Titans CEO Steve Mitchell has suggested that David Fifita's future with the club beyond 2026 is uncertain. The talented edge forward, recognized for his exceptional skills, has struggled through a disappointing 2025 season under coach Des Hasler, compounded by ongoing ankle issues that have necessitated surgeries.
Despite limited appearances this season, Fifita faced a demotion to the Queensland Cup and has been the subject of persistent media speculation regarding his status with the Titans. The South Sydney Rabbitohs appear to be his most probable next stop, with coach Wayne Bennett expressing interest in recruiting the Queensland player to Maroubra.
During an appearance on Fox Sports' NRL 360, Mitchell emphasized his desire to see Fifita back in action, regardless of whether he remains with the Titans. He stated, "I'll answer it like this. We don't talk recruitment or contracts, but we want Dave playing footy. We want him up and going as a 25-year-old. When he's on, he's the best second rower in the game. Whether it's here or somewhere else, we want him playing footy."
