In a thrilling Rugby League showdown at Campbelltown Sports Stadium, the Wests Tigers emerged victorious against the Melbourne Storm with a nail-biting 28-24 win in Round 8 of the Jersey Flegg Cup.

The Tigers roared out of the gates with a quick-fire start, racing to a 12-0 lead within the first seven minutes of play.

Fullback Tino Tavana set the tone with a try early on, followed by prop Herman Tofaeono crashing over the line just four minutes later.

Showing no signs of slowing down, the home side extended their lead with consecutive tries from lock Cayne Nicholas and halfback Jonathan Ibrahim, building a commanding 20-point advantage heading into halftime.

Despite a spirited comeback effort from the Storm, with centre Matthew Hill and forward Mitchell Jennings notching up back-to-back tries to narrow the gap to 10 points, the Tigers held their ground.

Center Te Umuariki Heremia-Tukere added to the Tigers' tally with a try of his own, giving the home team a comfortable 14-point cushion.

Although the Storm fought bravely and managed to score the final two tries of the match, it was not enough as the Tigers clung on to secure a well-deserved victory.

This win marked a triumphant return for the Tigers, reversing their earlier defeat in Melbourne and claiming their third consecutive win in style.
