Tigers Coach Dismisses Player Rumors

Benji Marshall Dismisses Tigers' Pursuit of Double Recruitment

Wests Tigers head coach Benji Marshall has firmly denied any links to players Scott Drinkwater and Bronson Xerri.

Recently, North Queensland Cowboys fullback Drinkwater gained attention once again, following earlier speculation regarding his potential move in the latter part of 2025.

Although the Cowboys had dismissed those rumors previously, his recent exclusion from the first-grade squad-attributed to rib issues rather than performance-has reignited discussion about his future.

On the other hand, Bronson Xerri has been taken out of Canterbury's lineup for their upcoming match against the Canberra Raiders, reportedly asking for a release from the club.

It is rumored that several clubs are eyeing Xerri, and various reports indicate that the Tigers might be interested in both players, especially with Jahream Bula's future still uncertain and concerns regarding the team's center positions.

However, Marshall clarified the club's stance, indicating they are not pursuing either athlete.

"I didn't really want to get into it and I don't talk about recruitment publicly," Marshall remarked during a press conference on Thursday.

"I like Bronson and he's a really good kid, really good footy player but we're not looking at him.

"I like Drinkwater, really good player but we've got a fullback and we're not looking at Drinkwater either."
