The young and spirited Manly Warringah Sea Eagles showed no lack of guts as they played their hearts out in a 36-22 loss to the Sydney Roosters at Industree Stadium today.

Despite missing some key players who were rested ahead of the season opener in Las Vegas, the Sea Eagles put up a valiant fight with prop Toff Sipley leading the charge as captain.

The depth and quality of the Sea Eagles roster was on full display, with the young NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg players proving they belong on the big stage.

In a move reminiscent of last year's Pre-Season Challenge, Head Coach Anthony Seibold handed over the reins to Assistant Coach Jim Dymock to further hone his coaching skills.

Seibold took the opportunity to observe the team dynamics from the coaches box to the sideline, gaining a valuable perspective.

The Pre-Season Challenge not only offers a chance for teams to showcase their skills, but also comes with a hefty prize money of $100,000, which is split equally between clubs and players.

Manly, having emerged victorious in last year's edition, certainly knows the importance of the competition and will be looking to make their mark once again.
