James Tedesco hopes to continue playing until the end of the 2028 season, when he expects to retire from the NRL.
The 33-year-old, who is in the final year of his Roosters contract, said, "Another year would be what I want to get to in 2028, and then that would probably be me."
He said he still felt he was playing well and wanted to reach 300 games next year.
On Tuesday, Tedesco will find out whether he has been selected ahead of Reece Walsh for Australia's fullback role in Sunday's World Cup semi-final against Samoa.
Tedesco has also offered to help Sam Walker and Roosters officials resolve the breakdown in contract talks, which has left the 24-year-old seeking a club for 2028.
Chairman Nick Politis ended negotiations days after Walker made his Australian Test debut in the World Cup win over Fiji. Coach Trent Robinson supported the decision, while Tedesco acknowledged the club needed to manage its salary cap.
"I don't think I can (play peacekeeper) now, but I did offer that, I said if we need to make some calls, I can help out however you want," Tedesco said.
Walker missed Australia's final group-game win over the Cook Islands and spoke privately with Tedesco last week.
Tedesco said the sudden attention and online discussion had made it a difficult week for Walker, who wanted time away from the situation. He added, "I offered that if he needed any help or to have any conversations with anyone, I'd be there for him."
