Jason Taumalolo, the North Queensland Cowboys' star player, is poised for another period on the sidelines following a calf strain sustained during warm-ups on Saturday evening.
As reported by zerotackle.com, this injury led him to be a late withdrawal in the Cowboys' heavy defeat against the Dolphins, where the opposing team scored a staggering 58 points.
Initially positioned to start at lock by Cowboys coach Todd Payten, Taumalolo was replaced by Harrison Edwards in the starting lineup, with Thomas Duffy stepping onto the bench.
Scans are pending to assess the severity of Taumalolo's injury.
He has struggled with similar issues this season, having participated in only six games to date, and was anticipated to make a return on Saturday before the latest setback.
Taumalolo remains under a ten-year contract with two years still to go in Townsville.
