Sydney Roosters' Walker apologises amid contract row

Walker intends to play with Roosters next year despite contract spat

The Roosters withdrew a reported $1.2 million-a-year extension for Sam Walker, proposed for three seasons with ratchet clauses.

The club announced its decision on Monday night after Walker and his management considered the offer and requested a slight upgrade.

That request angered club supremo Nick Politis, who pulled the deal.

On Wednesday's NRL360, reporter Phil Rothfield said Walker had not contacted coach Trent Robinson.

Rothfield said: "I find that almost insulting".

Code Sports later reported that Walker called both Robinson and Politis on Wednesday night to apologise for his part in the contract breakdown.

The 24-year-old was in the Kangaroos camp in Townsville and reportedly thanked them for their influence on his career, while hoping to restart talks.

According to News Corp, Walker told the pair: "I just wanted a bit more time (to make a decision),"
