Sydney Roosters' Tedesco moved by captaincy

The real reason the Roosters brought DCE to Bondi

Tedesco earned the Clive Churchill Medal after running for almost 400 metres in the Sydney Roosters' one-point grand final win over the Newcastle Knights on Sunday night.

After lifting the Provan-Summons trophy, the captain said leading the club to a premiership had been a career ambition and felt more emotional than the Roosters' 2018 and 2019 victories.

"I think the captaincy. It was a goal of mine since taking over. You want to win a premiership as a captain. That's pretty clear." Tedesco said.

"I wasn't emotional in 2018 and 2019, but the emotions felt stronger this time around." Tedesco said.

Now 33, he has one year remaining on his contract. Although he has previously discussed playing beyond the deal, he could be considering retirement.

Tedesco is almost certain to be the Kangaroos fullback at the upcoming Rugby League World Cup.

He said he was fatigued by the end of the physical contest, and credited his teammates' defensive work for giving him good positions to return the ball.
