Daly Cherry-Evans strengthened his claim for a preliminary-final place by scoring a try and creating three assists in the Roosters' 46-10 win over Cronulla.
The result sent Trent Robinson's side into a meeting with the Dolphins, but Sam Walker's potential return has complicated the halves selection.
Walker has been absent since Round 26 following syndesmosis surgery, yet Robinson expects the State of Origin halfback to be available.
He could return after four weeks, although five weeks is usually the minimum recovery period for the injury.
"Pretty confident from what we've seen," Robinson said on Saturday night as to whether Walker will play. "He hasn't trained with us yet, but he's had really good progressions."
Walker's selection would likely displace Hugo Savala, who excelled at five-eighth against the Sharks.
The 24-year-old delivered two try assists, two line-break assists, four tackle breaks and two offloads, while kicking seven goals from eight attempts.
Cherry-Evans was even more influential, prompting Robinson to say, "He absolutely nailed the halfback role for us tonight."
"There was great space created and he made some really good choices on the end of the line about how to pass or kick that ball."
Some supporters urged Robinson to retain Cherry-Evans and Savala, with one suggesting Walker begin on the bench.
Another wrote: "Savala dead set could be pencilled in at 6 and figure out DCE/Sammy after. Won't happen but that balance is very good."
