Sydney club's pursuit fails as Panthers secure Kenny

The Penrith Panthers have locked in hooker Mitch Kenny for a new contract, fending off interest from a Sydney club as they aim to achieve a four-peat this season.

Kenny, at 26 years old, has been a key player in the Panthers' recent Grand Final successes and has proven himself as a force in the middle of the field since the departure of Apisai Koroisau to the Wests Tigers last year.

Dominating the tackle count in most games he plays, Kenny has notched up an impressive 86 first-grade appearances for the Panthers since rising through the ranks of their renowned junior system.

Amid reports of interest from the St George Illawarra Dragons, Kenny has committed to the Panthers for another three seasons, solidifying his presence in the team until the end of the 2027 season.

"I'm stoked to stay with the Panthers because this club feels like home to me," Kenny expressed his excitement about the new deal.
