In a thrilling Super League Group One clash, the York Valkyrie showed their determination and resilience by overcoming a first-half deficit to defeat St Helens 18-8.

The victory not only secured revenge for their cup exit last week but also extended their lead at the top of the league by five points.

St Helens took an early lead in the first half, with Jodie Cunningham scoring a try and Amy Taylor converting two goals.

Despite Paige Travis being sin-binned, the Saints maintained their 8-0 advantage at half-time.

However, the Valkyrie came back roaring in the second half, scoring three unanswered tries with Lacey Owen, Liv Gale, and Tara Jane Stanley all crossing the line.

Stanley's exceptional performance also included a late penalty kick, sealing the victory for the Valkyrie.

This impressive win comes less than a week after their previous encounter, highlighting the Valkyrie's determination and ability to bounce back from defeat.
