In a huge signing boost for South Sydney Rabbitohs, powerhouse backrower Keaon Koloamatangi is set to sign a multi-year extension with the club.

This comes after an embarrassing end to the season for the Rabbitohs, who became the first club in the NRL era to miss the finals after leading the competition as late as round 11.

Koloamatangi's breakout season at the club has caught the attention of rival NRL clubs, but the 25-year-old has ultimately decided to stay put.

Souths were eager to secure Koloamatangi's services before November 1, when he could have hit the free agency market.

The St George Illawarra Dragons and Canberra Raiders were among the clubs rumored to be interested in signing the talented second-rower.

However, Koloamatangi made it clear in an interview that he wishes to remain with the Rabbitohs.

In his debut year for the Blues, Koloamatangi impressed with his performances, earning him a spot in the Tonga national team for a three-match test series against England.

He will be flying to the UK this week to represent his country.

To strengthen their squad for the upcoming season, the Rabbitohs have already secured the services of experienced playmaker Jack Wighton from the Raiders.

They are also reportedly in talks to sign Sean Keppie from Manly.

With the signing of Koloamatangi, South Sydney Rabbitohs are looking to make amends for their disappointing end to the season and are determined to bounce back in 2024.
