South Sydney's Elliott forced into retirement

‘Top down to bottom’: South Sydney blame game explodes

An ankle injury limited Adam Elliot to seven appearances this season, ending his career after 11 seasons in the NRL.

The South Sydney Rabbitohs confirmed the 32-year-old's retirement after surgeries and ongoing rehabilitation failed to resolve the injury.

Elliot played 180 NRL games for the Canterbury Bulldogs, Canberra Raiders, Newcastle Knights and Rabbitohs.

He also represented the Indigenous All Stars twice and received one Country Origin call-up.

His partner, Millie Elliot, will retire after the World Cup campaign, following her NRLW career.

"Growing up my dream was to play in the NRL and to now have done that for over a decade is something I'm proud of," Elliott said in a Raabbitohs statement.

He thanked his former clubs and the Rabbitohs community, and said, "I can't wait to see how I can give back to the Club and contribute off the field."
