Latrell Mitchell cops new ban from South Sydney as fresh NRL retirement fears emerge

In a blow reminiscent of a hard-hitting tackle, South Sydney Rabbitohs fullback Latrell Mitchell has been dealt a new setback by his own club in the midst of a three-game suspension.

The NRL star has reportedly been informed by Rabbitohs officials that he is not permitted to journey to his farm in Taree during his time on the sidelines.

Mitchell, known for his prowess on the field, will be absent from the game for the next month following an incident where he unleashed an elbow on Shaun Johnson in a clash last weekend.

This unfortunate turn of events couldn't have come at a worse moment for coach Jason Demetriou, who is already facing a challenging period in his coaching career.

Adding insult to injury, Mitchell has now faced another ban from the club, effectively putting a halt to his plans to retreat to his farm for some much-needed respite from the limelight.

The 26-year-old has a penchant for escaping the pressures of Sydney life by heading out to Taree, but that escape route has now been blocked off for the foreseeable future.

Former player Braith Anasta shed light on the situation on NRL 360, revealing that Souths officials have instructed Mitchell to remain in the city during his suspension.

"The leadership of the club needs to step up, take accountability, and make the tough decisions to address the longstanding issues within the team," Anasta declared.

"It's a case of too little, too late as they attempt to assert control over the situation."

As Mitchell faces this latest setback, the Rugby League world watches with bated breath, wondering how this chapter will unfold and what it means for the talented fullback's future in the sport.
