Tyrell Sloan, a promising outside back, is set to leave the St George Illawarra Dragons by the end of 2026, despite his deep connection to the club.
The winger aims to honor his contract with Castleford Tigers in England, where he will join two other Dragons players next year.
Speculation arose after the dismissal of coach Ryan Carr, who had previously worked closely with Sloan, sparking thoughts of a potential change of heart.
Despite expressing his desire to stay, Sloan faced challenges with defensive skills and ball handling, leading the Dragons to refrain from extending his contract.
Recently, Sloan's form improved, culminating in a remarkable two-point field goal during a Round 27 victory over the Parramatta Eels, stirring debate about his future.
"I don't reckon it'll be the last time you see me in the NRL. I'll definitely be back," Sloan affirmed.
He reinforced his commitment to the Dragons, stating, "Regardless of what jersey I put on, I'll always have the Red V at heart."
Having risen through the ranks as a Dragons junior, his loyalty remains apparent, and he admitted the reality of leaving has yet to fully register.
If his departure occurs, he vowed to support the Dragons from a distance, recognizing their importance in his career.
