Sea Eagles Bounce Back with Impressive Win

Following a challenging start to their 2026 season, the Sea Eagles have bounced back emphatically, securing three consecutive victories since Kieran Foran took over as interim coach.

Foran faced a significant challenge against a formidable Cowboys team, who arrived at this matchup on a four-game winning streak and brimming with confidence.

The Sea Eagles, however, stunned their opponents, delivering a decisive 38-6 victory on a humid Thursday night in Townsville.

Despite the impressive win, concerns loom regarding Tom Trbojevic, who sustained a hamstring injury and left the pitch just 12 minutes into the game.

Historically, Manly has struggled to fill the void left by Trbojevic's absence due to injury.

However, it appears Foran has discovered an adept substitute in Tolutau Koula, who has emerged as a formidable attacking presence along the left edge in the NRL.

Koula has seen limited chances to play fullback under former coach Seibold, with Lehi Hopoate typically favored as Trbojevic's backup.

Yet, it seems that under Foran's guidance, Koula will step into that role while Trbojevic recuperates, showcasing impressive offensive and defensive skills during the match against the Cowboys.

"He's done quite a few reps there throughout the preseason (the fullback role), just when we've needed to give Tommy a rest, he's probably the one player that is most familiar with it," Foran said in his post-match press conference.
