In a move that could shake up the Parramatta Eels like a hard tackle in the scrum, new coach Jason Ryles has made some bold decisions ahead of the 2025 NRL season.
Ryles, a former assistant at powerhouse clubs like Melbourne and the Roosters, has taken the reins at Parramatta after a disappointing 15th-place finish in 2024.
Ryles didn't hesitate to throw caution to the wind when it came to signing the lightning-fast Josh Addo-Carr, who found himself on the outer after a controversial sacking from the Bulldogs.
Despite Addo-Carr serving a four-match ban, Ryles saw past the drama and focused on the game-changing skills the speedster brings to the wing.
"Signing Addo-Carr was a no-brainer for me," Ryles shared with the press.
"I've seen firsthand the damage he can do on the field, and I knew he'd be a valuable addition to the squad."
As Ryles shuffles the deck and reshapes the Eels lineup, he bid farewell to some key players like Clint Gutherson and Regan Campbell-Gillard.
But in their place, Ryles has brought in some top talent like gun outside backs Zac Lomax and Addo-Carr, giving Parramatta a fresh look for the upcoming season.
With the dust settling on Addo-Carr's controversial exit from the Bulldogs, Ryles remains confident in his decision to bring the dynamic winger on board.
The coach's unwavering belief in the player speaks volumes about the potential impact Addo-Carr could have on the team.
"There's no doubt in my mind that Addo-Carr will be a game-changer for us," Ryles declared.
"I've seen him at his best, and I believe he can take us to new heights."
As the Eels gear up for the 2025 season, all eyes will be on Ryles and his new-look squad as they aim to turn their fortunes around and make a mark on the NRL landscape.
With Addo-Carr in their ranks, Parramatta fans can expect plenty of excitement and thrills on the field.
