Ryan Matterson Discusses Ongoing Concussion Struggles

Ryan Matterson, a forward for the Parramatta Eels, recently discussed his ongoing struggle with a concussion sustained during the preseason.

Before his return to Parramatta for this year's season, the skilled second-rower was on loan to the Warrington Wolves in 2025. However, since rejoining the team, he hasn't yet participated in any matches.

To address the lingering symptoms, he has consulted a neurologist.

Matterson took to Instagram to express his frustrations regarding his recovery journey following the head injury.

"Since I've been recovering from the concussion, training and nutrition is something I've kinda been leaning towards, just to take my mind off things," he mentioned in a video shared on his social media.

He added, "The symptoms I'm having with headaches and blurred vision and things like that, it's hard to deal with."

As he has yet to take the field this season, Matterson is potentially facing the prospect of medical retirement if his symptoms persist.

"I want to feel like me again," he expressed, highlighting his desire to return to form.
