Former Broncos and Wallabies star, Lote Tuqiri, is throwing his support behind rugby union converts Glen Vaihu and Floyd Aubrey as they set their sights on making an impact in the NRL.
Tuqiri, who knows a thing or two about switching codes, believes that the duo, who have been honing their skills under his guidance at Souths Logan Magpies in the Queensland Cup, have what it takes to succeed in the tough world of rugby league.
Vaihu, a former Melbourne Rebels player, turned heads with his performances last season, earning a train-and-trial opportunity with the Broncos.
Meanwhile, Aubrey, a one-time Queensland Reds prospect, has taken a bold leap of faith by leaving behind professional rugby to chase his NRL dream with no guarantees.
"It takes a strong mentality to make that switch, to start from scratch in a semi-professional environment and work your way up," Tuqiri commented in an interview with SMH.
With the support and guidance of Tuqiri, these union converts are gearing up for the challenges ahead and are determined to carve out their place in the NRL.
Time will tell if they can make their mark in the fiercely competitive world of Rugby League.
