Rugby League Rumble: Gould, Gallen disagree on NRL call

‘That is rubbish’: Phil Gould, Paul Gallen clash over NRL ‘embarrassment’

Phil Gould and Paul Gallen found themselves in a bit of a tussle over a contentious decision in the latest round of NRL action.

The Eels' victory over the Sea Eagles reignited the age-old debate surrounding the obstruction rule, leaving fans and experts divided like a scrum in the mud.

As the Sea Eagles were trailing by 10 points late in the game, a perfectly timed pass from Tom Trbojevic seemed to set up a crucial try for Tolu Koula.

The Fox League commentators were quick to question the legality of the pass, but the on-field referee saw no issues.

Just as it seemed like the Sea Eagles were on the cusp of a comeback, the all-seeing Bunker stepped in to overturn the try.

In typical fashion, Gould and Gallen couldn't see eye to eye on the decision, with Gould labeling it as "rubbish" and Gallen defending the referees' call.

This clash of opinions only added fuel to the fire in what was already a heated discussion around the NRL's handling of such contentious decisions.

The ongoing debate over the obstruction rule is nothing new in the world of Rugby League, with past controversies and clashes of opinion adding to the rich tapestry of the sport.

But as the NRL season rolls on, one thing is certain - the passion and intensity of the game will always lead to impassioned debates and spirited disagreements.
