The NZ Warriors faced a disappointing loss to the Sydney Roosters in the final regular season Harold Matthews Cup match, costing them a chance at the minor premiership.
The Warriors held a commanding 24-6 lead after prop Lucian Mikaele scored his second try early in the second half.
However, a 23-minute period saw the Roosters score four tries, leading them to a 26-24 victory and pushing the Warriors into third place.
Center Soane Ma'asi had opened the scoring for the Warriors with a dazzling solo effort, but despite having chances to extend their lead, the Roosters ultimately emerged victorious.
The loss was a blow to the Warriors' hopes of claiming a top two spot and the minor premiership.
