Roosters' 1975: Hope Soars, Dreams Tackle Reality

1975 - Simply The Best

In 1975, the Eastern Suburbs Roosters faced the daunting challenge of replicating their remarkable success from 1974 amid the newly implemented 13 Import Rule.

This rule restricted clubs to only 13 players who had not played at least two seasons of junior rugby league with their club for any of the three senior grades.

Given that the Roosters had fielded 36 imports in 1974-24 of whom played in the First Grade-many fans doubted that the club could effectively replace at least 23 players while maintaining enough depth to defend their titles.

Despite these challenges, the Roosters not only managed to sustain their performance but also claimed the Club Championship success in 1975.

While there has been much focus on their First Grade team and its achievements, the unprecedented success of the Roosters in light of the 13 Import Rule remains a significant highlight of that year.
