'Never thought they'd look at me': Why Rima is primed for Jillaroos call up

Sydney Roosters forward Rima Butler has expressed her desire for a place in the Jillaroos, feeling more confident than ever about her ability to represent the reigning world champions.

Since transferring to the Roosters from Newcastle to fill the position of the pregnant Millie Elliott, Butler has showcased her best performance yet. She is now a contender to take Elliott's spot on the Australian team for the Pacific Championships, which will be announced on Monday.

Butler, who clinched a premiership with the Knights in 2023, will participate in her third grand final on Sunday against the Broncos, following her previous season with Parramatta in 2022.

At 27 years old, she is also eligible to play for New Zealand and competed for the Māori All Stars earlier this year, besides being part of the extended 30-player NSW Origin squad.
