Riley Price, the son of legendary Canterbury Bulldog and New Zealand Warrior Steve, is set to join the Auckland Warriors immediately.
Growing up in Auckland, Price was just three when his father signed with the Warriors in 2005, accumulating 91 appearances before retiring in 2009.
At 25, Price is eager to carve out his own NRL legacy. Although he hasn't seen much game time so far, the Warriors might be the ideal place for him to gain exposure, thanks to a deal placing him on the development list this year, transitioning to the Top 30 in 2027 and 2028.
An outstanding junior talent yet to fully realize his potential in the NRL, Price has played only three games, with his first two for the North Queensland Cowboys in 2023 and one for the Penrith Panthers in 2025.
Following the 2025 season, he wasn't re-signed by the Panthers and has since showcased his skills at the Dolphins under a pathways agreement, notably shining in the QLD Cup with four tries in 11 games and averaging nearly 100 meters per match.
"It's exciting for us having Riley back at the club he knows so well from his time living in Auckland when his father was here," said Andrew McFadden, the Warriors' general manager of recruitment, pathways, and development.
"Riley has tasted NRL football and gained a lot of experience playing in the Queensland Cup and New South Wales Cup. He has terrific footballing pedigree through his father and will bring a lot to the squad with his professional attitude and work ethic."
"It's also a thrill seeing the next generation coming through with yet another son of one of the former players joining the club."
In total, Price has played 81 games across both the QLD Cup and NSW Cup, starting with the Townsville Blackhawks in 2021 as he navigated through the Cowboys system.
