Jack Bostock's strong form has raised questions about the Dolphins' ability to keep both him and Herbie Farnworth.
Bostock is contracted through 2027, but the Dragons are reportedly interested in bringing him back to Wollongong.
He made his State of Origin debut for NSW and earned player-of-the-match honours in his first game for the Kangaroos at the Rugby League World Cup.
Farnworth is off-contract at the end of next season and has been linked with the Roosters.
In June, he said: "I am signed here for this year and next year. I have not had any thoughts on leaving. I'm happy."
He also dismissed the reported Roosters interest, saying: "(The Roosters link) is just media talk. We haven't spoken to anyone and I certainly haven't heard anything."
Reporter David Riccio believes the Dolphins could lose one of the pair after reportedly re-signing Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow for at least two more seasons.
"I think that is very, very important because I think at least one of Bostock or Farnworth will drop out of that system," Riccio said on SEN Radio.
The Roosters have lost Angus Crichton, Spencer Leniu, Mark Nawaqanitawase and Daly Cherry-Evans ahead of next season, leaving salary-cap space for a possible Farnworth bid.
