NRL Match Preview: Raiders v Sharks

The Canberra Raiders head to GIO Stadium on Sunday aiming for their first home triumph of the season against the Cronulla Sharks.

Following an NRL match review committee decision, Josh Papali'i will be absent and Morgan Smithies moves into the starting side.

Papali'i's omission opens the door for youngster Joe Roddy to make his second NRL appearance and debut in front of the home crowd.

Cronulla arrive desperate for their second win after a heavy 38-10 loss to the Dolphins last round.

The Sharks will also be without hard-running edge forward Briton Nikora, sidelined with a broken nose sustained last week.

Earlier this year Cronulla beat Canberra 32-12 at GIO Stadium during week two of the 2025 finals series.

A key battle to watch is the clash of playmakers Ethan Sanders and Nicholas Hynes at halfback.
