In a bid to enhance their junior ranks, the South Sydney Rabbitohs have secured the signatures of two young brothers from the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs.
Afualo, who has signed an NSWRL contract with the Rabbitohs, comes to the club after a notable five-year stint with the Bulldogs. He has advanced through the ranks, starting in the Under-17s Harold Matthews Cup and making his way to the Under-21s Jersey Flegg Cup and NSW Cup competitions.
A two-time Jersey Flegg Cup champion, Afualo showcased impressive performance this season, playing 22 matches and scoring 12 tries. He also participated in two NSW Cup games and two NRL Pre-Season Challenge matches.
Joining him is his brother, Maxwell Afualo, who will compete in the Under-19s SG Ball Cup for the Rabbitohs.
This brotherly duo's signing follows the recent acquisition of Dan Keir, a back-rower listed with the Parramatta Eels development squad. Keir primarily plays in the back-row or lock positions and has appeared in seven matches for his club over the last two seasons, with a significant portion of his time dedicated to the NSW Cup reserve-grade competition.
Having been part of the 2016 Australian Schoolboys team and the son of former rugby players Steve Keir-who played for the Canberra Raiders, Sydney Roosters, and North Sydney Bears-Dan had an impressive season in the NSW Cup, scoring three tries, averaging 74 running meters, making 567 tackles, and executing five line-breaks.
