Player Fined for Careless High Tackle

The NRL's Match Review Committee has reviewed North Queensland Cowboys' Tom Chester after his high tackle on Dolphins winger Selwyn Cobbo.

Right before halftime, as the match remained tightly contested, Chester attempted a cover tackle on Cobbo, making contact above the shoulders about 10 meters from his goal-line.

This incident led to a review, resulting in Chester being charged with a grade 1 careless high tackle. Given that this was his third similar offense, he was subsequently fined $3000.

Chester narrowly avoided a sin bin punishment, as replays suggested a certain level of force was applied around Cobbo's ears.

If Chester opts to contest his early plea, he must present his case to the panel. Should the 25-year-old fail in his defense, he would face a two-match suspension for this infraction.

This season, Chester has been in outstanding form, developing a formidable partnership with teammate Jaxon Purdue, which enhances their offensive capabilities.

The Townsville native is now in his fourth year at the top level, overcoming previous injuries that hindered his performance and enjoying his longest stint without interruption so far.

Earlier in the first half, Chester and Cobbo clashed when Chester was controversially awarded a try, despite Cobbo seemingly dislodging the ball as Chester fell across the line.
