Blake Wilson is a qualified pilot and plans to pursue aviation after his football career.
For now, the 26-year-old is heading to Perth on a one-year deal with the Bears for their first NRL season in 2027.
He will join the club's Top 30 after leaving Manly Warringah Sea Eagles.
A Noosa Pirates junior, Wilson came through Queensland's Sunshine Coast Falcons.
He made an early impact with Canterbury-Bankstown in 2023, scoring six tries in his first 11 NRL games, including a hat-trick.
Across three seasons at Canterbury and one at Manly, he has scored 14 tries in 30 NRL appearances.
"It's a pretty special opportunity to be part of a club's first year in the NRL, and I can't wait to get to Perth and get to work," Wilson said.
"To be coached by Mal and to help set the standards for this club from day one is something I'm really looking forward to."
Head Coach Mal Meninga said Wilson's high standards matched the qualities the Bears sought in their squad.
"Every time he's been given an opportunity in the NRL, he's performed," Meninga said.
Meninga also highlighted Wilson's size, speed, finishing ability and versatility across the backline.
General Manager of Football Gareth Holmes said Wilson's try-scoring record, positional range and character made him a strong fit, adding that he would push for first grade from day one.
Wilson is due to join his teammates for pre-season training in November.
