The Perth Bears are facing a significant development with the resignation of David Sharpe, Mal Meninga's chosen Head of Football, just months before their inaugural season.
According to a report by Code Sports, Meninga's position as coach is now under increased scrutiny following Sharpe's unexpected exit.
Meninga had actively advocated for Sharpe, the previous head of Sports Integrity Australia, to take on the role of head of football for the Bears.
However, Sharpe's role became questionable in the past weeks due to reports of disagreements with chief executive Anthony De Ceglie and other vital staff members.
The club has issued a statement confirming Sharpe's departure.
"The Perth Bears thanks Mr David Sharpe for his contribution in establishing and developing the rugby league club," said the club in their announcement.
