Payne Haas' future with the Brisbane Broncos appears secure, according to his manager, Ahmad Merhi.
Although reports indicated that Haas might explore the open market starting November 1, Merhi clarified that this is standard practice and does not imply an imminent departure.
Haas is currently under contract with the Broncos until the end of 2026, which allows him to negotiate with other clubs from November 1, but Merhi is optimistic about Haas remaining with the team:
"We have had really good discussions with the Broncos and we are all on the same page.
I do believe that Payne will stay at the Broncos," he stated.
Merhi emphasized that while they are waiting until the season concludes to engage in more serious negotiations, the intention remains for Haas to stay with Brisbane.
"At this current stage we are not striking (any deal).
We are waiting until the season is over and then we will go into heavy negotiations.
Payne is a Bronco.
He has always been a Bronco."
He also addressed the recent confusion about the list of players sent out to all clubs, saying, "That list goes out every month.
Every coach in every club will get that.
Every November 1 we update the list to show who is coming off contract in the upcoming years." This practice serves as a reminder to teams about the players represented by his agency.
Importantly, he confirmed, "We are not talking to clubs about Payne and we are not having discussions with any of them."
Additionally, a contract clause may facilitate the possibility of Haas playing alongside his brother, Klese, in the near future.
Overall, Haas' ongoing commitment to Brisbane seems solid, and further discussions will unfold after the current season wraps up.
